Once you get a job you’ll be entitled to a contract of employment. It’s an agreement between your employer and yourself that records what your job entails and what is expected of you and of the employer. Your employment contract doesn’t have to be in writing. However, you are entitled to a written statement of your main employment terms within two months of starting work.

Find out more about what the Contract of Employment covers at Direct Gov.

There is information at WorkSMART too.

In addition the Greater Manchester Pay and Employment Rights Advice Service offers advice and support about your rights at work. They can also give you information about organisations in your area that could help you further.
