Connexions - a guide for parents and carers

Connexions is the advice and guidance service for all 13 to 19 year olds (up to 25 for young people with Learning Difficulties or Disabilities). If you look on the 'Easy Read' section of this website you will find pages of information for young people with Learning Difficulties.

Our Connexions Advisers work with all young people whatever their ability or background, but provide extra support to those who need it most. Our aim is to help young people make the most of their potential.

Connexions provides impartial information advice guidance and support on:
  • Money
  • Health
  • Careers
  • Further learning including education and training
  • Housing
  • Leisure
  • Relationships
  • Work
You have a key role in helping your child make career choices. It's important that you know about the options and choices open to them.

Talking to a Connexions Adviser at parents' events at school or college or in your local Connexions Centre will enable you to find out about:
  • Foundation Learning, GCSEs, Diplomas, AS/A Levels and other courses and what is suitable for your child
  • Which colleges, apprenticeships, training and other opportunities are suitable for your child
  • How a Connexions Adviser works with and supports your child
  • Other opportunities, such as volunteering, available to young people.

In addition you can use our Connexions library to get more information, and download a copy of our "Connexions - a guide for parents and carers" leaflet.

In Year 11 we give your daughter or son a copy of `cnx2yourfuture` outlining the options open to them. Download a copy.
