Connexions - a guide for parents and carers
Connexions is the advice and guidance service for all 13 to 19 year olds (up to 25 for young people with Learning Difficulties or Disabilities). Our Connexions Advisers work with all young people whatever their ability or background, but provide extra support to those who need it most. Our aim is to help young people make the most of their potential.
Connexions provides information advice guidance and support on:
Training
Leisure
Relationships
National research shows that parents and carers are the biggest influence on the career choices made by their children, so it's important that you know about the options and choices open to them.
You can talk to a Connexions Adviser at parents’ events at school or college or in your local Connexions Centre. They’ll:
-
Help and advise about choosing options for GCSEs and other courses
-
Provide information about colleges, jobs and training
-
Tell you how they are helping your daughter or son.
-
Explain about the opportunities available to young people.
In Year 11 your daughter or son can get a copy of ‘Where It’s At, a booklet produced by Rochdale Youth Service in conjunction with Connexions.
In addition you can use our Connexions library to get more information, and download a copy of our Connexions - a guide for parents and carers leaflet.
